In Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi argues for the rights of tribal people by saying, “They’re original owners of country”
On Sunday, the head of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, advocated for the rights of tribal people and said that members of tribal communities are the “original owners of the country.”
He also underlined the rights of indigenous people and said that such rights should be granted to them about the land and the forest.
“As I have been making my way throughout India, I have had the opportunity to speak with people of all ethnic backgrounds. There is a phrase that is referred to as “Adivasis,” which literally means “original land owners.” This means a particular wisdom, a particular understanding of the environment of the earth we live on…a particular relation with the planet we live on, and that also implies that they (tribals) are the “original owners of this country,” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a gathering after inauguration of a power facility at a hospital in Wayanad. “They should be given rights on land, on forest, and should be allowed and imagination to do whatever they want,” he continued. “They should be allowed and imagination to do whatever they want.”
In addition to referring to tribal people as the original proprietors, Rahul Gandhi said that the tribal people should encourage their children to pursue careers in engineering, medicine, and law, or to establish their own enterprises.

Furthermore, the term “Vanvasi” is based on a twisted line of reasoning. The name ‘Vanvasi’ not only implies that you are confined to the forest but also discredits your claim to be India’s original inhabitants. The meaning of the term “Vanvasi” is meant to convey the concept that you are a part of the jungle and that you should never leave it. This is not something that we can tolerate in any way. This term is not acceptable to us,” he said.
At the Dr. Ambedkar District Memorial Cancer Center in Wayanad, where Rahul Gandhi recently donated Rs. 50 lakh from the MP fund, he also presided over the inauguration of a new power facility for the hospital.
“It gives me great pleasure to be able to be here and officially open the power plant. I have high hopes that this new power line would be beneficial to the hospital. I am pleased to provide fifty million rupees from the MP fund. Because of the hard effort put in by the medical staff, this institution will get 5 crore rupees,” the Congress MP remarked.
