In Yamunanagar, 16 out of 17 buses fail the fitness test on Day 1

Today, the state’s school buses underwent a fitness test conducted by the Transport Department. According to a letter from the Transport Commissioner of Haryana, it would continue for the next vacations on April 20, 21, 27, and 28.

Following the bus accident in the Mahendragarh district that resulted in the deaths of six kids, an autorickshaw carrying students toppled in Yamunanagar on Monday. The student who died in the tragedy was eight years old. According to reports, Hairatjeet Kaur, District Transport Officer-turned-Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Yamunanagar, in Jagadhri, oversaw the bus fitness test today.

According to an RTA representative, 17 buses showed up for the fitness test. The buses pulled up to the testing site in Jagadhri’s Gulab Nagar. Only one of the buses received a certificate of fitness. For a variety of reasons, the remaining recipients did not get certificates. They had time to make the necessary corrections,” an official said.

The district of Yamunanagar has around 850 school buses. The letter from the Transport Commissioner said, “The fitness test of school buses which do not possess fitness certificates shall be done on upcoming holidays in April 2024 as a special facility in addition to the passing held on normal days.”
