INDIA VOTES 2024: To increase voter awareness, Chamba admn introduces “Bholu,” the poll mascot

The Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer, Mukesh Rapswal, introduced an election mascot and a sticker under the SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation) campaign in an effort to guarantee that all eligible voters cast ballots in the Lok Sabha elections.

He said that in addition to the LPG cylinders being delivered, stickers with specific voting instructions will be sent to the people.

Gas cylinders all over the Chamba district will have stickers with the district’s mascot, “Bholu,” which is based on the Himalayan Brown Bear found in the Kugti and Tundah wildlife sanctuaries in the Bharmour and Pangi valleys. The stickers will also have the local Gaddi dialect saying, “Munh bhi gana vota pana,” which translates to “I shall got to cast my vote.”

The stickers will also be affixed to public transportation vehicles and visible locations in an effort to disseminate the word about how important voting is.

He said that, on average, ten gas providers send fifty thousand gas cylinders every month to household customers. In addition to encouraging voters in far-flung places to cast ballots, the sticker promotes brown bear conservation, according to Repswal. In order to promote voting, Repswal said, the government has launched a well-planned voter education and awareness campaign. In the district’s outlying districts, efficient voter education initiatives are being planned as part of the campaign.

Attendees included SDM Chamba Arun Sharma, Assistant Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner PP Singh, economist Vinod Kumar from District Rural Development Agency, District Nodal Officer for SVEEP program Arvind Singh Chauhan, and in-charge of the District Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, Jyoti Surya.

Reminds inhabitants of their responsibilities

In addition to receiving their LPG cylinders, the residents would get stickers with voting instructions on them.
Stickers with the slogan “Munh bhi gana vota pana” (I shall got to cast my vote) in the local Gaddi dialect will be attached to gas cylinders throughout the Chamba district. “Bholu” is the district’s mascot, and it is based on the Himalayan brown bear found in the Kugti and Tundah wildlife sanctuaries in the Bharmour and Pangi valleys.
Additionally, the stickers will be affixed on prominent locations and public transportation vehicles.
