Industry wants that Tawi beautifying work be expedited

In order to draw more visitors to the city, members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Jammu, met with J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and encouraged him to speed up construction on the Tawi River bank and the establishment of a freshwater lake.

Arun Gupta, president of CCI, said that progress on the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex was moving slowly. “We asked the administration to expedite the project and to get the light and sound system up and running as soon as possible.”

Gupta also insisted that Patnitop be turned into a tourist destination, necessitating the permission of business ventures along the lines of Gulmarg and Pahalgam.

He informed the Chief Secretary that Jammu had enormous tourism and pilgrim potential that had not yet been realized. “Jammu’s Pir Panjal area has a lot of untapped tourist potential, but up until now it has been overlooked. We want the government to develop areas like the districts of Poonch and Rajouri. Similar to this, he suggested that road infrastructure be improved to link tourist destinations like Patnitop and Sanasar with holy sites like Shiv Khori, Mata Vaishno Devi, and Sudh Mahadev.

He suggested that in order to attract visitors, historic lakes like Mansar and Surinsar should also be developed on contemporary lines.

Gupta also brought up the fact that no residential colony or commercial area had been built by the Jammu Development Authority in the previous thirty years.
