It’s time to discipline six MLAs for disobeying the mandate: Mukesh Agnihotri, the deputy chief minister of Himachal

The people should punish the six Congress MLAs who were running for reelection by disparaging the mandate they received in the 2022 Assembly elections, according to Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri.

Speaking to reporters here, Agnihotri said, “The BJP has become a victim of its own plot as Operation Lotus, despite its best attempts to destabilize a legally elected government, has failed in Himachal Pradesh. The six Congress MLAs who betrayed their own party are apologizing. They had no idea that they would have to run for reelection after losing their membership.

Given the unity of all 34 MLAs, he claimed, the Congress rule was stable and would serve out its whole term. “Nobody would fall victim to Operation Lotus now that they saw the uncertain fate of the six Congress MLAs who had joined the BJP,” the speaker said.

He said that knowledge of the BJP and its leaders’ plot to subvert the people’s mandate was widespread across the state. “The Leader of the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, has to apologize to the people of the state for the failure of Operation Lotus in Himachal Pradesh,” he continued.

“The Congress has 34 legislators in the House of 62,” said Agnihotri. Thus, there is a definite majority in Congress. Our government is not in danger right now, and it will get stronger after the Lok Sabha elections, he said.

He said that the BJP’s attempt to topple the Congress administration was the reason for the agitation among the people of Himachal. “All four Lok Sabha seats will be won by us. The BJP is thinking of switching its nervous candidates after we announced our choices for the Mandi and Shimla parliamentary seats, he said.

Pratibha Singh, the head of the State Congress, urged party members to prepare for the polls in order to guarantee that the party’s candidates would win all four Lok Sabha and six Assembly seats. “The Congress will talk about development, while the BJP will try to divert the voters’ attention from fundamental issues like price increases, unemployment, and corruption,” she said.

She said that despite the damage caused by last year’s extraordinary rains, the Congress had made sure the state would continue to prosper. She went on to say that the Congress would vote for candidates who would represent the interests of the people and the state, and that it would do so for the sake of truth. “Those who have contributed to the advancement of the state and its citizens will receive tickets,” she said.
