Karnal Civil Hospital now has a facility for hearing tests

Beginning Monday, the Karnal District Civil Hospital is offering hearing exams, a significant advancement in medical treatment. A variety of vital tests, such as pure-tone audiometry, impedance audiometry, otoacoustic emissions, brainstem evoked response audiometry, and auditory steady-state response, have been initiated by the ENT Department.

Previously, these important exams required travel to the PGI, Chandigarh, or Rohtak for those with hearing difficulties. According to the authorities, people no longer have to travel great distances to receive these treatments since they are now available at the Civil Hospital.

Civil surgeon Dr. Krishan Kumar said, “We started this facility in the District Civil Hospital keeping in mind the problem being faced by people.”

He said that all tests will be given within the hospital for free, but outside of it, the costs of these tests varied from Rs 500 to Rs 4,000. He said that by making screening facilities more widely available, this action aims to guarantee that everyone has access to high-quality healthcare, including children with hearing impairments.

“It is now simple to test youngsters for hearing impairments. Previously, people had to go to PGI Chandigarh, Rohtak, or other regions for examinations,” he added. It will also assist with the issue of disability certificates and the installation of hearing aids.

He claimed that 25 PTA tests and two to three BERA and ASSR tests may be run per day.
