UCC Will Be Used In Uttarakhand Current Year: CM Dhami

According to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand would introduce the Uniform Civil Code this year.

Additionally, he said that residents of other states have been relocating to Uttarakhand without having their identities verified, causing a demographic shift that has to be examined.

Every citizen of the nation should be subject to the same laws. It has been the populace’s desire. The beginning will be made in Uttarakhand. We will implement the UCC across the state by the end of this year, as required by the Constitution, Dhami stated during a seminar held here on Monday.

“Growing Uttarakhand, Rising Uttarakhand” was the focus of his speech.

He said that the UCC was pledged to the state’s populace before to the assembly elections last year.

“We were re-elected with a huge mandate, defying the rule that incumbent governments often lose elections. We established a committee to design the UCC as one of our first actions after joining the administration, according to Dhami.

Before creating the draft of the UCC, the panel sought input from 2.33 lakh individuals as well as several organizations, institutions, and ethnic groups, he said.

According to Dhami, Uttarakhand is the source of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers and has long been revered as a place of spirituality and religion that draws visitors from all over the globe. She said that Uttarakhand’s unique identity must be preserved.

“Without requiring proof of identification, residents from outside the state have been relocating here, which is changing the demographics. It must be examined, he said.

The state administration is taking rigorous action against unlawful encroachments and forced conversions, according to the chief minister.

A tighter anti-conversion rule has been adopted to prevent coercive conversions, and encroachments have been cleared from 3000 hectares of forest land, he said.

The young people are being linked to various programs for independent work. Following the COVID-19 epidemic, reverse migration has also begun in the state, he said.

To entice investors to the state, efforts are being made. This place will host a significant investment conference in December.

Considering the state’s varied topography, which includes both plain and mountainous regions, 27 region-specific strategies have been developed to attract investment in a variety of industries, he added.

The delicate Himalayas are located in the lap of Uttarakhand.

Following the Joshimath catastrophe, municipalities’ load-bearing capacities are being researched in an effort to combine ecological preservation and economic growth, he added.

More than 38 lakh pilgrims have already visited the Himalayan temples, according to him, and the number of those traveling on the Chardham Yatra is expected to surpass past records.
