Earth Day was celebrated

Mangaluru: On Sunday, in observance of World Earth Day, a group of like-minded individuals, including Saroja Prakash, Prakash, and Ashwini K Bhat, as well as members of the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi units “Parisarakkagi Navu,” held a public protest in Kadri Park.

The two-hour demonstration’s objectives were to inform the public about the dangers of plastic use, the value of composting organic waste, and the application of bio-enzymes.

Advocating for environmental consciousness, the slogans were artistically shown on repurposed PVC pipes with recycled materials like old cardboard and papers attached.
Anjani Vasanth, Devaki GK, and other like-minded people worked together to facilitate the event. This year’s Earth Day topic, “Planet vs. Plastics,” provided a focus point for conversation. About sixty people actively participated in the demonstration, demonstrating a strong interest in finding out more about composting and sustainable alternatives to plastic.
In order to reach a larger audience, efforts are being made to extend these interactive awareness programs in the future. The organizers voiced optimism about the potential benefits of group action, thinking that coordinated efforts may result in significant shifts in people’s attitudes and behaviors toward the environment.
