Kerala man accused of misleading job seekers
A individual who defrauded over 300 people of their money by phoning them with promises of employment overseas was taken into custody by police on Thursday. Kannan Thankappan, 42, of Kollani, near Thodupuzha, also goes by Jaison. Cannan International Education Pvt Ltd was a company that Kannan and his spouse ran. They had offices in Thodupuzha, Palarivattom, and Thammanam in Kochi.
The accused offered job seekers visas to Canada, Australia, the UK, and other European nations in exchange for taking between Rs 4 and Rs 8 lakh. In another example of foreign recruiting, he was taken into custody by the authorities a few years before. The accused managed to get a phony passport and fled the country after being granted bail. He thereafter went back to his hometown.
He was apprehended by Thodupuzha’s Palarivattom police after receiving a tip.
