Kharge labels the Shivraj Chouhan-led MP government as “anti-tribal” and “anti-dalit”

The president of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, remarked on Saturday that the BJP operates on the motto “mooh me Ram, bagal me churi” (beautiful words but wicked acts), accusing the party of being “anti-poor, anti-dalit, and anti-tribal.”

The president of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, remarked on Saturday that the BJP had a policy of “moonh me Ram, bagal me churi” (sweet words, sinister acts), accusing it of being anti-poor, anti-dalit, and anti-tribal.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi boasts of appointing a tribal woman as President of India, but what good is it to have any position when you can’t treat the person with dignity and respect?” He asked at an electoral rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori area, which is inhabited by tribal people.

“President Droupadi Murmu was not invited by Modi to the inauguration of the new Parliament building merely because she is a tribal member.” Ramnath Kovind, the previous dalit president, received the same disregard. He said that Kovind was not invited by Modi to the event to lay the cornerstone for the new Parliament building.

Kharge further criticized the prime minister for suggesting that India’s positive developments began when he was appointed to the position. He said, “The BJP claims credit for everything without doing anything.”

“After India gained independence, Jawaharlal Nehru and Bhimrao Ambedkar granted women the right to vote, something that was not granted to women in many other countries,” he said.

In addition, he said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) merely disseminates fake information to suggest that it is striving to improve the lives of the poor, dalits, and adivasis, while in fact this is not the case.

“A few businessmen like Adani and Ambani now control all of the nation’s resources, including airports, seaports, and other establishments,” he stated in reference to the Modi administration.

“Under the Modi regime, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer,” he said.

Since independence, he said, the Congress has been the party that has been really fighting for the dalits, the underprivileged, and the tribal people.

“It was the previous prime minister Indira Gandhi who elevated a Dalit to the position of President of India, or the first female President of India and the first female Speaker of the Lok Sabha,” said the head of the Congress.

“We are fielding 48 ST candidates only because they deserve it, even though there are 47 seats set aside for scheduled tribes (ST) in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections,” he said.

Attacking the Shivraj Singh Chouhan administration in the state, Kharge said that throughout its eighteen years in power, the saffron party accomplished nothing to further the welfare or development of the populace.

Kharge remarked, “Chouhan did nothing for the elderly, women, and children for so many years, but he is hugging elderly women and putting kids in his lap now that the polls are approaching.”

“These folks are frauds. “Don’t be duped by their antics,” he urged the assembly.

“All of your needs will be met and education from kindergarten through class 12 will be free when the Congress takes over the state,” he said.

“The country and Madhya Pradesh will change for the better with the Congress,” Kharge said, urging people to vote the Congress into office.

Election day for the MP assembly is set for November 17.
