Man detained for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from an FDA officer in Thane

Thane: In the Thane district of Maharashtra, a person was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday while reportedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 on behalf of an FDA officer.

The man is now being held in jail.
According to Ashwini Patil, the deputy superintendent of the Thane Unit ACB, the ACB set up a trap on Monday night based on a report and captured the accused, named Roshan Modi, in the process of taking the bribe from the proprietor of a roadside restaurant.

The defendant purportedly arrived to accept the money on behalf of an FDA Class-II food safety officer (FSO). According to the officer, the complainant, whose restaurant the FDA had blocked earlier this month, had been asked to pay the official Rs 5,000.
According to the FDA official, a complaint has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused, who was arrested, as well as the official.
