Gurcharan Singh said that he had planted the tree 25 years before and said that a team from the Forest Department—which also included representatives from the Revenue Department and MC—had designated it for removal.

Srishti Jaswal, Gurcharan’s daughter, described the tree as robust with green foliage. “In the otherwise concrete residential colony, it serves as a home to a multitude of birds and animals,” she said. stating that nobody was in danger from the tree at this time. “In the past, attempts have been made to kill the tree by pruning it,” the woman said.

Gurcharan declared, “I have sent a letter requesting the Forest Department and the MC authorities to save the tree. A similar request has also been made to the Deputy Commissioner.

President of Dev Bhumi Paryavaran Rakshak Manch Narender Saini backed Gursharan’s cause, saying it was a bad idea to chop down a healthy tree so that others may feel more comfortable. He implored the relevant authorities to take the necessary action to save the tree.
