Members of the Food Commission inspect the quality of the midday meal at public schools

Member of the Punjab State Food Commission Vijay Dutt examined the midday meal program today by performing a surprise inspection of a number of government schools, anganwadis, and ration depots in the neighboring Phagwara villages of Tibbi and Chachoki.

Dutt emphasized throughout the inspection the need of keeping the school midday meal food test record up to date, feeding kids wholesome food, and keeping meal preparation areas clean. He spoke with the kids and consumed the food himself. Also examined was the quality of the drinking water in schools. Total dissolved solids (TDS) in drinking water should be periodically evaluated in locations without ROs, according to Dutt.

Dutt also directed that the commission’s hotline numbers be posted in schools. He advised any recipient to contact the commission at 9876764545 with any complaints they may have over the National Food Security Act. Additionally, he mandated that every six months, midday meal staff and students undergo medical examinations.
