Farm leaders’ social media accounts have been restored

On Wednesday night, the social media profiles of a few agricultural union officials were made available again after being inactive for over two months. Mahesh Choudhary, a spokesman for Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), confirmed the situation, stating that the accounts were stopped in two rounds

Although we do not yet know the precise number, we have been informed that, although the accounts banned in the second wave have not yet been restored, those blocked in the first round were restored yesterday night. Choudhary said, “We have insisted on the prompt reinstatement of all such accounts.

The SKM had stated that the government had ordered the temporary restriction of 177 social media accounts and online connections relevant to the farmers’ protest after the government briefly disabled the social media accounts of agricultural leaders, namely those demonstrating at the borders of Shambhu and Khanauri.

There have been two rounds of discussions between social media businesses and the Central Government. According to Choudhary, the first round took place on February 8 and 9, and the second round on February 19. According to him, on February 10th, some farmer accounts were stopped in the first phase, and on February 20th, the remaining accounts were blocked.

Concurrently, there was a fire at the border protest area near Shambhu. Four tents and a tractor-trailer were destroyed in the fire that started as a result of a possible short circuit. The farmers quickly took over and managed to get everything under control. The event resulted in no injuries.
