Minister: The center is dedicated to provide reasonably priced healthcare

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday that throughout the last ten years, a number of actions have been taken to offer inexpensive healthcare, with the Central Government playing a major role in this.

“One of the distinct examples of this is the Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme, unique of its kind in the world in the sense that it provides insurance even for a pre-existing disease,” main guest Jitendra Singh said at the BJP-organized “Doctors’ Sammelan” in Jammu.

BJP organising secretary Ashok Koul presided over the event. He gave an explanation of how the party was trying to get expert opinions from various groups in order to create a manifesto for the next election.

According to Jitendra Singh, “the number of MD seats has increased by 93% from 31,185 to 60,202 in less than 10 years, while the number of MBBS seats has increased by 79% from 51,348 to 91,927 to provide more accessibility to government-sector medical colleges for affordable medical education.”

“In a quantum jump, India now has 260 such GMCs, while the number of AIIMS in the country went up to 23 in 10 years,” he said, referring to the country’s 145 government medical schools in 2014.

Speaking on India’s immunization program, Jitendra Singh said that the country has become a global leader in preventive healthcare. He pointed out that formerly, the nation wasn’t regarded seriously as a supplier of healthcare.
