Mukhtar Ansari’s death is to be investigated by the court in Banda, and a report is expected in a month

A top source in Lucknow reported that a chief judicial magistrate’s court in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday ordered a judicial investigation into the death of gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari.

Garima Singh, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (MP-MLA Court, Banda), was named the case’s investigating officer by Banda Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Bhagwan Das Gupta, the official stated. The CJM has requested the probe report within a month. Ansari passed away at the hospital after suffering a heart arrest on Thursday night after being taken in “an unconscious state” from the district jail to the Rani Durgavati Medical College in Banda. He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday for almost 14 hours after claiming to be experiencing stomach pain. The Senior Superintendent of the District Jail in Banda requested on March 28 to designate an officer for the judicial investigation into Ansari’s death, according to the letter containing the probe order.

SN Sabat, the director general of prisons, has already declared that a judicial investigation will be conducted.

Afzal Ansari, the MP for Ghazipur, said on Tuesday that his brother was given slow poison while incarcerated. Mukhtar claimed that while he was incarcerated, a poison was delivered to him in food. This is the second time it has happened. He was also administered poison some forty days prior. And he was lately exposed to this poison once more, which is why his condition is poor,” Afzal Ansari had stated.

The MP for Ghazipur stated that on March 21, during the online trial of a case in a Barabanki court, Ansari’s attorney submitted a claim claiming that his client was receiving “slow poison” while incarcerated, which was causing his condition to worsen.
