Muzaffarnagar Slap Case: Supreme Court Orders IPS Officer Probe, Says Case Should Shock Conscience

Regarding a recent upsetting occurrence that took place in the Muzaffarnagar area of Uttar Pradesh, the Supreme Court has expressed grave concerns. The Supreme Court has voiced its displeasure with the Uttar Pradesh government, saying that the way the situation played out should be very troubling to the state’s conscience. In one event, a teacher at the school was seen on camera encouraging pupils to smack a classmate. The August 24 episode, which was extensively reported on social media, generated indignation and criticism from a number of sources.

The Supreme Court has issued a number of orders in reaction to this unsettling situation. First and foremost, it has mandated that a senior IPS officer chosen by the state government oversee the probe into this case. This officer is required to provide a full report to the Supreme Court, assuring an in-depth review of the case.

The state government has also been ordered by the court to provide therapy to the victim and the pupils who were part in the event. Professional counselors will undertake this therapy in order to address the psychological effect on these people.

The court has also expressed worry about the state’s adherence to the terms of the Right To Education Act, highlighting the fact that there seems to be a prima facie case of noncompliance. This law strives to offer children up to the age of 14 with quality, free, and required education without any caste, creed, or gender discrimination. Within four weeks, the Supreme Court wants a status report on the RTE Act’s implementation in state schools.

The great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, Tushar Gandhi, requested a quick inquiry into this situation. The Muzaffarnagar Superintendent of Police was earlier ordered by the court to produce a status report on the case and the steps taken to safeguard the student and his parents. The Uttar Pradesh government had also been given notice, and the deadline for their reply was September 25.

The Supreme Court has made it quite obvious that if a kid is punished merely because of their neighborhood, excellent education cannot be delivered. Asserting that the state cannot expect the kid to remain in the same school under these conditions, it has emphasized the significance of adequate therapy for the victim and the children who were forced to participate in the event.

The accused instructor, Tripta Tyagi, was seen telling pupils to hit a 7-year-old Muslim kid in the viral video. The instructor encouraged the students to smack him as they carried out her instructions as the pupil sobbed. Tripta Tyagi claimed that the event was a “minor issue,” yet she has been charged in relation to it. The boy’s father has opted to remove his son from the school rather than bring legal action against it. The child welfare commission has also provided therapy to the youngster’s parents.
