INDIA bloc representatives at the booth to guarantee a large turnout in Tamil Nadu

The INDIA group has instructed its booth-level agents (BLAs) and ground-level officials before the election day to boost voter participation, particularly among party members.

According to sources in the DMK, complete instructions have been given along with supplies needed on poll day, such as kits with voter lists, stationery, and unique seals for each booth agent to mark the bags carrying the control units and EVMs after voting is over.

Before polls open, BLAs are expected to be at their assigned booths by 6 a.m. to supervise the mock polling EVM practice and make sure the control and ballot equipment are operating as intended. They also have an obligation to provide party leadership with full voter participation statistics every two hours until noon and then every hour after that.

After voting is over, the BLAs must sign the 17-C form that the booth’s returning officer has prepared. The agents are not allowed to leave their individual booths without collecting a copy of the document. By April 22, ground-level officials have to submit the 17-C forms to the party headquarters via the district secretaries.

Booth agents and committee members have received a guidebook created by the DMK legal department that contains instructions on how to conduct business during polling hours. BLAs have been instructed to get in touch with the legal wing or members of the district-level war-room in the event of an emergency or complaint.

In order to maximize participation among party supporters, the party has also demanded cooperation between members of its booth committee and those of its alliance partners, the INDIA bloc.
