Noida: Over 3,100 People Rescued After Swollen Hindon and Yamuna Hit 17 Villages and Nearly 1,600 Acres of Land

In Noida and Greater Noida, the flood crisis persisted in the Hindon and Yamuna floodplains, affecting 17 villages with over 3,100 people relocated to shelter houses while about 1,600 hectares of land were flooded, authorities said on Wednesday.

Manish Kumar Verma, the district magistrate for Gautam Buddh Nagar, and Lokesh M, the CEO of Noida Authority, visited several of the affected areas and assessed the situation at shelter houses put up by the government to house the displaced residents.

The administration decided to close all schools on Wednesday as a result of the district experiencing heavy rain showers early in the day. Water-logging was also recorded in various regions and on several of the twin cities’ highways, in addition to the floodplains along the Hindon and Yamuna rivers being affected.

A further DM As the Yamuna and Hindon flooded but remained below their danger lines on Wednesday, Atul Kumar said the flood situation seemed “static” despite the fact that police, administrative staff, and PAC people were working on rescue and relief efforts.

“At the moment, 17 villages throughout the three tehsils of Sadar (Noida), Dadri, and Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar are impacted. Currently, 3,355 people in the district are impacted, and 3,137 people have been forced to leave their homes, according to Kumar, who is also the nodal officer for flood relief efforts.

In addition to the 10 beds at the district hospital and the anti-venom medications, he claimed that 21 flood posts had been established around the area and that eight medical teams.

According to Kumar, the water level of the Hindon River downstream was 201.15 meters, below the danger criterion of 205.80 meters, while the water level of the Yamuna River downstream was 198.25 meters at the Okhla Barrage on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The nodal officer said that there are already 22 operational shelter houses around the district where plans have been made to provide free lodging and food to the displaced people. He continued by saying that the government had also provided for cow feed.

According to Kumar, the district’s floods are now having an effect on 1,590 hectares of land. Chhijarsi, Chotpur, Haibatpur, Yusufpur Chaksahberi, Bahalolpur, Chipiyana Khurd alias Tigri, Sutiyana, Momnathal, Kulesara, and Lakhnavali are the villages along Hindon that have been affected.

Nangli Wajidpur, Shahpur Govardhanpur Khadar, Chakbasantpur Basantpur, Yakutpur, Chhaprauli Khadar, and Asadullapur are some of the Yamuna’s affected villages.
