Just Pikachu at a Mumbai Indians practice session. Nothing else

The Mumbai Indians and the well-known Japanese anime franchise Pokemon partnered before the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season began. As a result of the partnership, the club said that during the team’s seven home games this season, fans will get the opportunity to meet and greet Pikachu, maybe the most well-known Pokemon, at Wankhede Stadium. Ninety minutes before each game, it was reported that Pikachu would be present at a booth located on the west block of the arena.

In a recent Instagram video posted by the Mumbai Indians, Pikachu was seen during a Wankhede practice. While they were focused on their training, a few players from the Mumbai-based team saw a “Wild Pikachu” emerging on the sidelines. It was clear that the participants were enthused since they went directly to engage with the Pokemon.

“Hey, Pikachu,” one of them said as they greeted Pikachu at the recognizable stadium. Greetings from Wankhede Stadium. Do you want to watch us play cricket? The electric-type Pokemon was thrilled by the query and answered, “Pika Pika,” in its own made-up tongue.

A lot of youngsters from the 1990s still have strong feelings for the Pokemon franchise. Although the anime series originated in Japan, it didn’t take long for it to gain popularity outside. Its popularity among Indian viewers would undoubtedly rise as a result of this collaboration with an IPL franchise like the Mumbai Indians.

In regards to the Mumbai Indians, the five-time winners have fallen short of the fan base’s expectations this IPL season. The team captained by Hardik Pandya has only earned four wins in their 12 games so far. They are essentially out of the postseason chase as they are now mired in second place in the points standings.

In their last IPL game at Wankhede, the Mumbai Indians, who have lost four straight, might surprise an in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla bowled well to help the hosts limit SRH to 173 runs in the first inning.

During the chase, the Mumbai Indians lost a few early wickets, but Suryakumar Yadav proved to be their rescue. The middle-order batsman from India scored an undefeated 102 from 51 balls, smashing his second IPL century. With the help of his explosive performance, Mumbai reached the mark in 17.2 overs.
