Old tank at Sirsa powerplant becomes dangerous

This 150-foot water tank has long been in disrepair; it is located on the grounds of the 132 KV powerhouse on Barnala Road.

It is said that the structure may collapse at any moment, increasing the danger of serious accidents, as it has not been fixed despite many reminders being issued to the relevant authorities.

There are several homes and businesses close to the location, and hundreds of people visit it every day. Residents are asking the authorities of the power board to act immediately to avert any adverse occurrence in light of the current circumstances.

Built over fifty years ago, the tank provided a crucial source of water for homes and businesses linked to the 132 KV powerhouse.

It seems that the administrators of the power board have disregarded the tank’s catastrophic condition, despite its urgent need for repair.

Local Mohan Lal said that the tank needed immediate repair since it was in very bad shape. He continued, nevertheless, that the authorities of the electrical board were ignoring the issue. The four pillars of the tank showed signs of wear and fissures caused by the fading of the plaster. He said that there was a risk of serious mishaps because of the tank’s dome’s declining state.

According to Sirsa HVPNL Executive Engineer (XEN) Chintan Sher, the water tank’s state has seriously become worse.

He said that a note about its repair had been sent to the department. He said that the tank will be repaired when authorization was received. He said that in order to speed up the job, another letter will be submitted to the department.
