Over 47,000 children will get polio drops

After chairing a meeting of the District Task Force Committee on Polio Eradication here today, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahender Pal Gurjar said that the district Health Department would provide polio drops to 47,333 children under the age of five on March 3.

Gurjar said that 718 teams had been organized for the campaign, which would start on March 3 at 8 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m.

“A child will receive immunization drops at home if they do not receive them from their parents.”

March 4 and 5, he continued. He told representatives of the Health Department to make sure

that migratory labor communities and slums were included.

He announced the installation of 359 polio booths to serve every panchayat in the district.

Additionally, in order to vaccinate children who are traveling with their parents, 14 transit sites would be established at interstate barriers. He also said that 231 mobile teams had been organized to patrol the district’s outlying regions, impoverished neighborhoods, and colonies of migrant laborers.

Gurjar urged all parents to have their children under five years old given polio drops. He gave the line departments instructions to back the effort.

The meeting was attended by Tehsil Welfare Officer Jatinder Kumar, HRTC Regional Manager Suresh Dhiman, District Programme Officer of the Integrated Child Development Scheme Narender Kumar, and District Medical Officer (Health) Dr Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu.
