According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit the accident scene in Odisha today and speak with the wounded at the Cuttack hospital.

According to the most recent sources, a train disaster involving the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, and a cargo train on Friday in Odisha’s Balasore district resulted in 238 fatalities and more than 900 injuries.

Yesterday, Narendra Modi tweeted his condolences, writing, “Distressed by the railway disaster in Odisha. My thoughts are with the grieving families at this difficult time. May those who were hurt quickly heal. I discussed the subject with Railway Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw over the phone. At the scene of the accident, rescue operations are under way, and those who are hurt are receiving all available support.

Political party leaders from all around the country have shown worry over the situation, and bordering states have offered assistance.

According to reports, thus far, the site has been mobilised by three National Disaster Response Force units, four Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force units, more than 15 fire rescue teams, 30 physicians, 200 police officers, and 60 ambulances.

200 ambulances, 50 buses, 45 mobile health units, and 1,200 staff are allegedly working at the disaster scene, according to Bhubaneshwar authorities.

According to accounts, it is one of the worst train disasters in Indian Railways history.

According to sources, Modi attended a meeting earlier to assess the situation in light of the tremendous continuing relief and rescue effort in Delhi.
