Pune: Check the New Traffic Rule and No More Small Vehicles on BRTS Lane

The Pimpri Chinchwad traffic branch issued an order banning all small cars that often enter Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) lanes and slow down traffic in an effort to enhance traffic and offer less crowded roads in Pune.

According to the regulations set out by the relevant authorities, only municipal transportation buses and emergency vehicles are permitted to utilize the BRTS lane. In addition to these, anybody discovered utilizing the lanes while operating a prohibited vehicle would be fined Rs. 1,500.

BRTS Lane Use Penalty

According to the traffic police officer, there is a Rs. 500 fine for first-time rule violators. The same individual will once again be fined Rs. 1,500 if they are caught utilizing the forbidden lane.

Here is what Pimpri-Chinchwad’s ACP (Traffic) had to say

Vitthal Kubade, assistant commissioner of police (traffic), Pimpri-Chinchwad, said that despite the authorities’ best efforts, they have not been able to prevent commuters from avoiding the BRTS, which was designed only for use by emergency heavy trucks. They are left with no choice but to penalize the public severely for the infraction after seeing the incident.

The owners of the prohibited vehicles and the drivers, according to Kubade, are irresponsible and disobey the law. According to Kubade, the department has addressed the RTO department with a request to suspend the driver’s license for three months for those who consistently breach the law.

All Cases

The same violation has reportedly been the subject of a total of 44,986 instances this year, according to reports. And a total of Rs 3.1 crore in fines have been collected by the traffic authority.
