Punjab Government’s delayed wheat lifting is Sukhbir Badal’s fault

SAD head Sukhbir Badal visited grain markets today in the Muktsar district’s Mahuana village and Malout town. He accused the state administration of being at fault for the delayed lifting of wheat, which caused issues for commission agents and farmers.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, he said, was adding salt to farmers’ wounds by refusing to lift their crop after denying them compensation.

Sukhbir spoke with a few farmers, telling them that the SAD would stage demonstrations if nothing changed in the following several days.

“It’s alarming that farmers are suffering in the grain markets, but the Chief Minister is traveling to Gujarat and Assam,” he said. When floods struck our state last year, too, the Chief Minister made the decision to flee in order to allow AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to tour neighboring states. The lack of reimbursement for hailstorm damage to wheat is already causing hardship for the farmers. They have now carried their goods to the grain markets, where they are having trouble finding it.

Sukhbir also reminded the Chief Minister of his pledge to guarantee farmers early assistance of Rs 25,000 per acre. In the Lok Sabha elections, he exhorted the farmers to give the AAP a lesson.
