Rahul Gandhi said, “Will do whatever…,” as the struggle in Amethi was tense

Rahul Gandhi maintained the suspense on Wednesday by stating that he “will act on whatever order the party gives me” in reference to the Congress party’s failure to choose a candidate for the highly competitive race for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi responded, “This is BJP’s question, very good,” in response to a query about whether he will run for the May 20 Lok Sabha election from the Amethi constituency. The CEC meetings of the party are when these choices are decided. In Amethi’s opinion, the party made the choice, and I will follow whatever instructions they give me.

He went on to say that he would follow the committee’s decision since he is a party soldier.

Previously a Gandhi stronghold, Amethi was won by Smriti Irani of the BJP in the 2019 elections, leaving Rahul Gandhi defeated. Irani has been renominated for the position, but Congress has not yet announced a nominee. There have been several rumors that Rahul Gandhi, who has already submitted his candidacy from Wayanad in Kerala, may also run from Amethi.

The 53-year-old is anticipated to try to reclaim the seat, which has previously been held by his father Rajiv Gandhi, uncle Sanjay Gandhi, and mother Sonia Gandhi.

Smriti Irani, dubbed the “giant slayer,” defeated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, breaking his 15-year rule in Amethi by a margin of 55,000 votes.

Beginning on April 19, there will be seven phases to the Lok Sabha elections. On June 4, the vote-counting process will begin.

“PM Modi is a corruption champion.”
The Congress leader said at the news conference that the BJP would only be able to get 150 seats and that there was a strong undercurrent supporting the INDIA bloc.

“I was predicting the BJP would win 180 seats about 15 to 20 days ago, but now I think they will get 150 seats.” Every state is reporting to us that we are doing better. We will do extremely well because we have a very strong coalition in Uttar Pradesh, he said.

Branding the now-canceled electoral bonds program as the “biggest extortion scheme in the world,” Rahul aimed his guns at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, he called PM Modi the “champion of corruption.”

According to the prime minister, electoral bonds were introduced to promote clean politics and transparency. Why did the Supreme Court abolish that system if this is the case? Furthermore, why did you withhold the identities of those who contributed funds to the BJP if your goal was to promote transparency? He said, “And why did you conceal the dates when they gave you the money?”

A five-judge Supreme Court Constitution panel overturned the electoral bonds program in February, declaring it to be “unconstitutional” and permitting anonymous contributions to political parties. It has become a central tenet of the Congress’s opposition to the Modi administration.
