“Ramnath Goenka steadfastly defended democracy

On Friday, Ramakrishna Ashram in Gadag’s Swamy Nirbhayananda Saraswati recalled the Emergency era and celebrated the contribution of The Indian Express group, which was founded by Ramnath Goenka. He said the journal was a staunch supporter of democracy.

He was giving a speech at an event celebrating the silver anniversary of the Shivamogga edition of The New Indian Express and SRS Educational Institution with the theme “Teacher Becomes Guru.”

The seer, who was speaking to teachers at the ceremony, called them the country’s drivers and said that India has become a developed nation as a result of their careful driving. He exhorted the educators to ignite the students’ brains and mold them into world-class figures.

He said that because teachers are like the drivers of the children’s bus—if they fall asleep, it would spell disaster—they must constantly be on guard and provide the finest instruction possible for their charges. Taking aim at the administrators for their poor decision-making in the creation of education, he stated that while competent administrators can contribute to the provision of a proper education, which will subsequently aid in the development of the nation, the nation has not been led by competent educators, and education policies and textbooks have also been created by unintelligent individuals. The time has come to implement the best educational system possible and accelerate the nation’s progress, he continued.

Using many instances, Swamiji said that a competent teacher is the key to the nation’s true progress. “Japan was spoiled during the Second World War and it was said not even a blade of grass can grow in Japan in the next 50 to 100 years and it was at this time, the Japanese conducted a meeting,” he added, citing the example of the country becoming a superpower within 25 years of the devastation. The notion to train the most talented young people as teachers was presented during a meeting. As a result, Japan was able to flourish by 1970 and is now a global leader, having become a superpower in only 25 years.

Educators must to acquire the skills to instruct pupils in a variety of ways and ensure their academic satisfaction. A competent teacher can bring about this change in the kids, and the instructor must be able to motivate the students. He went on to say that educators should stimulate and excite students’ minds and help them form the habit of asking questions.

The term education comes from the Latin word Educo, which means to bring out, and with this we can establish a developed nation, Swamiji stated. “We want to tap their talent and bring out what is hidden in their mind.” He said, “The education we are getting is negative,” just before ending his lecture.
