Roadway closure on the Chandigarh-Manali route

Because to large landslides along the swelling Beas river in Himachal Pradesh brought on by overnight heavy rains, traffic on the Chandigarh-Manali national highway between Mandi and Kullu has been shut down, police said on Sunday.

The landslip that happened close to Pandoh in the Mandi district severely damaged the national route. On both sides of the troubled region, hundreds of cars were still stuck.

The police have halted all vehicle travel from Kullu and beyond Mandi in both directions.

According to official sources, the shutdown of the highway, the lifeblood of the Kullu-Manali stretch, had an effect on the supply of milk, bread, newspapers, and other household goods.

The major landslip near Kamad has been impeding the alternative route connection between Mandi and Kullu through Kataula since Saturday night, according to government sources.

Visitors have been urged by the district authorities of Mandi and Kullu districts to postpone their trip along the Mandi-Kullu route till the highway is repaired. By Sunday night, it’s anticipated that the roadway will be operational once again.

There have been reports of connection roads being closed in the Kullu, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kangra, and Shimla districts’ interiors, which has slowed down traffic.

The state’s more than 150 roadways have been impacted by the rain, according to authorities.

Due to landslips near Solan town, even traffic on the Chandigarh-Shimla national highway was somewhat hindered.

According to a meteorological office official, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur districts may see isolated periods of exceptionally heavy rainfall until Monday due to the impact of an active western disturbance.

The Satluj, Beas, and Yamuna rivers, as well as their tributaries, were in flood in the districts of Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur, and Sirmaur, according to a government spokeswoman. These rivers flow into Haryana and Punjab.
