SC mandates that state pollution boards appoint 6,092 people

Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Haryana have been ordered by the Supreme Court to act quickly to fill the 6,092 open positions in the statutory Pollution Control Boards across states.

“We also give the Punjabi state’s Advocate General instructions to follow suit. The Bench said that the states must take the necessary action over the next two months and scheduled a follow-up hearing for July 10.

According to a study provided to the Bench, there were 51% of open positions in India’s several pollution authorities.
