Shooting Breaks Out At Samastipur Court, Injuring Detainees

On Saturday, August 26, gunfire reverberated through the air, jolting the surrounds, and chaos broke out within the Samastipur Court grounds. There was shock and confusion as defiant offenders publicly approached law officials, shooting at two inmates. Shots were fired at the courthouse as the inmates, Prabhat Chaudhary and Prabhat Tiwari, were there for a planned hearing, causing a flurry of mayhem. While the assailants were able to flee the area, both injured captives are now receiving medical attention.

According to the information that is available, both inmates were locked up because of a case involving alcohol. On the aforementioned Saturday morning as they were being transported to the courts, four gunmen stopped them and opened fire, critically injuring Prabhat Chaudhary in the leg and shooting Prabhat Tiwari in the hand. Following the assault, the attackers quickly left the court grounds. They did so by running through the main gate and crossing a distance of around 30 to 40 meters.

In the midst of a tense situation, the following police officers swiftly transported the wounded inmates to Sadar Hospital for medical assistance. A team from the District Investigation Unit, made up of officers from local and rural police stations, arrived on the site soon after the event. After reaching the scene, notable officials SP Vinay Tiwari and DSP Amit Kumar made investigations at the hospital.

The four gunmen who opened fire are still at large. After a thorough six-month search with help from the Special Task Force (STF), a well-known member of the liquor mafia named Prabhat Chaudhary had been caught, according to SP Vinay Tiwari. He had been detained by the authorities after being apprehended, and the day of the event was the planned date of the case’s continuing trial.

In response, the Sadar DSP has created a Special Task Force (STF) under his leadership. The attackers’ names have been revealed by the authorities.

The event has raised questions about the safety of those engaged in high-profile cases as well as about the security arrangements in place at the Samastipur Court grounds. Law enforcement has launched a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators and ensure the safety of the court’s facilities and its users.

Bihar BJP President Samrat Chaudhari, however, condemned the state’s law-and-order condition, saying that “Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is not able to handle the state.”The state’s condition is bad, and how rigorous is its enforcement of law and order when there is a shooting inside a courthouse?Nitish Kumar has to step down right now.

Sushil Kumar Modi, a member of the BJP, said of this event, “Witnesses are not secure in this state. A journalist who had been a witness in a murder case was assassinated a few days ago in Araria. The culprits won’t be punished if witnesses are in danger. Attacks on police by the coal and sand mafia are common. These repeated assaults demonstrate that Nitish Kumar’s USP of Law and Order is no longer relevant.
