Speaker of Maharashtra calls for a SIT investigation over accusations made by a Maratha quota activist against Devendra Fadnavis

In response to accusations made by Maratha quota campaigner Manoj Jarange Patil against state deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar has ordered a SIT investigation.

Patil had earlier on Saturday accused Fadnavis of planning a plot to assassinate him and eliminate Maratha dominance in the state. He said that there was an alleged effort to poison him with saline, but he did not provide any details.

Following his claims, Ashish Shelar, a BJP MLA, demanded an investigation.

In response to the charges, Fadnavis said that the state’s Maratha community would not accept individuals who propagate “falsehood” and that the police would respond appropriately if anybody attempted to violate the law.

“Accusations made against me: They are aware that what they are saying is untrue. I kept my reservations in both the Supreme Court and the High Court throughout my tenure as Chief Minister. The Maratha community also knows exactly who initiated the Sarathi and Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation initiatives, as well as the amount of funding allocated to them. False charges made by anybody would not be accepted by the Maratha community. Someone else is now repeating the identical script that Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar were saying up till yesterday. The proper person will be revealed at the appropriate moment. However, police will respond appropriately if someone follows the law, his office said on “X.”

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, has cautioned Patil against trying to outsmart the state administration. According to Shinde, Patil was speaking in the dialect of Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray.

“Those who repeatedly demonstrate against the government shouldn’t try to push our tolerance to the limit. They shouldn’t cause issues with law and order. He told reporters, “I wonder why Jarange’s speech looks like the script that Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray usually use.”
