Srikakulam: Venkata Ramana, the TDP’s rebel leader, gives in

Venkata Ramana Murthy, a former MLA from Kalamata and a TDP dissident leader in the Pathapatnam Assembly seat, was eventually appeased by the party hierarchy. Mamidi Govinda Rao was awarded the party ticket for the Pathapatnam Assembly constituency in lieu of Venkata Ramana Murthy.

Venkata Ramana voiced his dissatisfaction with the party high command and said that he had been upset since the party tickets were revealed. In addition, he leveled grave accusations against district president K Ravi Kumar, state president K Atchannaidu, and Srikakulam MP K Rammohan Naidu, accusing them of obstructing the truth and portraying him unfavorably in front of the party hierarchy.

In an effort to divide votes and defeat party MLA and MP candidates, Venkata Ramana also declared his intention to run as an independent from Pathapatnam. Meetings with his supporters and followers were part of his campaign.

Later on, however, Venkata Ramana accepted the invitation from TDP state and district leaders to serve as the party’s district president in lieu of K Ravi Kumar, the present president.
