“The hospital director asserted, ‘She was forcefully propelled,’ as Mamata Banerjee sustains injuries subsequent to a mishap at her residence, receiving four sutures before being discharged.”

KOLKATA: Mamata Banerjee fell at her Kalighat residence on Thursday night, sustaining a concussion, a cut on her nose, and a severe gash on her forehead, which the director of the state-run SSKM Hospital blamed on “some push from behind.”

The Bengal CM was brought to the hospital’s Woodburn Ward, which dates back to the British period, around 7:30 p.m., where medical professionals stopped the bleeding and stitched up the forehead wound three times.

One stitch was needed to close the nasal cut. On the recommendation of a multidisciplinary medical board, she had several tests, including an MRI and CT scan, before being sent home at 9:45 p.m.
An official from the health department said, “We wanted to find out whether the fall was an accident or she suffered any fluctuation in blood pressure.”
Around eleven o’clock at night, SSKM director Manimoy Bandyopadhyay modified the notion that Mamata fell on her face after stumbling over something while going into her bedroom to propose that a mystery “push” was the cause. He mentioned her wounds, but he didn’t go into detail as to why.
“CT scans and ECG investigations were conducted. Although hospitalization for monitoring was suggested, she wished to return home. We will keep a careful eye on her. Friday is the day of her assessment, according to Bandyopadhyay.
Trinamool councillor Kajari Banerjee, Mamata’s sister-in-law, bolstered the conspiracy allegation by claiming to have heard that “Didi fell after a dhakka.”. There are several ways to translate the Bengali term, one of which is “impact after colliding with something.”.
Kartik Banerjee, Kajari’s husband, said, “I wasn’t present but spoke to my wife, who accompanied Didi to SSKM Hospital.”
Mamata “fell face first and hit the sharp edge of a small cabinet,” according to another family member.
The chief minister was present at a ceremony on Thursday night to unveil a statue of late Trinamool politician Subrata Mukherjee, which was held close to her house in Kalighat in south Kolkata’s Gariahat neighborhood. She hurt herself after taking a tumble shortly after arriving home.
“With the blessings of the people of Bengal, she will be well,” said Abhishek Banerjee, general secretary of the Trinamool party and the nephew of the chief minister, who drove her to the hospital.
PM Narendra Modi sent a get-well note to Mamata Didi on X. Please pray for a speedy recovery and the best health for Mamata Didi. “I pray for a quick recovery and the best health for Mamata Didi,” he wrote.

While promoting for the assembly elections in March 2021, the Bengal chief minister was injured in his ligaments in Nandigram. She started the campaign route in a wheelchair because of a damaged leg.
In June of last year, during an emergency helicopter landing at the Sevoke airfield in North Bengal, she sustained further injuries to her left knee and hip. After being taken to SSKM Hospital, medical professionals discovered ligament damage in her left hip joint and a buildup of fluid in her left knee joint. Mamata was told that she would need to remain in the hospital, but she preferred to get her care at home.
After that, the Bengal CM had to go through a rehabilitation program and limit her activity for a few days. She last went to the hospital in September 2023 to get treatment for that injury.
As word spread of her most recent injuries, a sizable throng of Trinamool supporters descended onto SSKM Hospital.
Yusuf Pathan, a former cricket player and Trinamool candidate for Behrampore, posted on X, saying, “I’m really sorry to learn about the situation involving Mamata Didi. I’m hoping Mamata Banerjee recovers quickly. I’m thinking about you.”
A speedy recovery was also hoped for his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal, Tamil Nadu chief minister M.. K.. Stalin, and vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar.
