The LS Polls’ First Phase Nomination Process Has Begun

With the release of a notice on Wednesday, the nomination process for the 102 parliamentary seats located in 21 states and Union territories—where voting would take place in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19—began.

The Election Commission, acting on behalf of the President, has announced that nomination papers must be submitted by March 27.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the Lok Sabha seats in Bihar that will be up for election in the first phase is March 28, however, because of a holiday. In Bihar, the first round of voting will take place for four of the forty seats.

On March 28, nomination papers will be examined. It will be completed in Bihar on March 30.

March 20 is the deadline for withdrawing from consideration, while April 2 is the deadline for Bihar.

The 18th Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to start on April 19 and run in stages starting on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. On June 4, the votes will be tallied.

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry are the states where voting will take place in the first phase.
