Three people are been held for the murder of a taxi driver in a road rage incident close to Red Fort

A Delhi Police official claimed on Wednesday that three people—including a woman—had been taken into custody for the two days before the robbery and murder of a 36-year-old taxi driver near the Red Fort.

An eyewitness who was a bystander was also shot by the accused. Three of the four defendants were recognized as Salman (24), Sajid (19), and Anita alias Ruksar (28). Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), M. K. Meena, said that around 1.50 a.m. on Monday, information about the admission of Mohammad Shaqib, a Zakir Nagar resident, and Luv Khush, a 15-year-old Palwal resident, after gunshot wounds was received from LNJP hospital.

While Khush is currently receiving therapy, Shaqib, who had an upper abdominal bullet wound, passed away during the course of treatment. After filing a report, the police started looking into the event. According to investigations, at the Chatta Rail red light, at around one in the morning, a vehicle and an e-rickshaw collided.

An argument broke out between the drivers of the rickshaw and the automobile when the e-rickshaw toppled. Three individuals attacked the driver of the automobile, took his cell phone, then picked up cash from the rickshaw driver when bystanders interfered, according to the DCP.

Amidst the chaos, a scooty rider wounded a spectator by shooting Shaqib, the taxi driver, and firing towards the assembled crowd. One of the attackers vanished into the throng, while the other two guys and a lady on the scooty headed towards Old Delhi Railway Station. The scooty’s number was found via the CCTV tape, but when it was verified, it turned out to have two different numbers.

After seeing the suspects boarding an autorickshaw, the police started asking the drivers for information, which brought them to the Shastri Nagar neighborhood. The lady shown in the CCTV clip, according to investigations, is the sister of Sunita, a Yamuna Bazar resident who moved to Loni and was previously detained in connection with an attempted murder case, the DCP added. The police discovered that Loni had died around six months earlier while conducting searches in Ansar Vihar, and that her mother and sister, Anita, were living in Bawana.” This prompted further inquiries, which ultimately allowed for the whereabouts of Anita and her mother in the Khajuri Khas region to be determined.
