Tribes vow to boycott elections because they feel excluded
Thane: If political parties don’t protect their interests and repeal laws that could force them from their homes and give moneylenders and landlords more power to seize their resources, a delegation of the tribal community from Thane has threatened to boycott the Lok Sabha elections.
At a news conference on Monday, the Adivasi Kranti Sena (AKS) threatened to imitate the Ulgulan, a tribal rebel movement led by Birsa Munda that defended the rights of indigenous people.
According to AKS’s Anil Bhangle, no one has contacted them to learn about their issues.
