Two are detained in Seelampur for murdering a guy in broad daylight

An official said on Thursday that two criminals who aspired to become well-known as a gang were taken into custody for the murder of a man in the nation’s capital after the guy failed to comply with an extortion demand.

Salman alias Faizan alias Nata, 20, and Shoaib alias Mastan, 20, were named as the accused.

Their detention followed the shooting death of a 35-year-old Shahnawaz on April 12 at Kabari market E-block in northeast Delhi at close range.

Shahnawaz, a native of New Seelampur, had injured his head with a bullet. After being sent to JPC Hospital, he was sent to LNJP Hospital. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast), Joy Tirkey, “the entry wound was from the back of the head, occipital region, and the exit wound was on the left side temporal region.”

Shahnawaz passed away on April 13 due to his injuries after being transported to JPC hospital and then transferred to LNJP hospital for further treatment.

The police team set up technological surveillance as part of the investigation, and they also inspected and examined the area’s CCTV cameras. The DCP said, “The team set up a trap in the Welcome area and apprehended Salman and Shoaib based on the gathered intelligence.”

When questioned, the two admitted that Shahnawaz, the victim, operated a company that catered to children’s festival needs by selling fairy wheels and swings.

“The accused intended to extort protection money from him and wanted to become famous as a gang. They fired a shot at close range, piercing his head,” DCP Tirkey said.
