Two cousins in Kanpur commit suicide after suspected gang rape

The suicides of two cousins in the Kanpur district’s Ghatampur region exposed a horrific episode that highlights the consequences of crime against women.

On Wednesday night, the two little girls were discovered hanging from a tree. They reportedly took drastic measures in response to the son and nephew of a kiln contractor harassing them sexually on a regular basis.

Following the event, the contractor who had threatened the victims’ family was also taken into custody by the authorities.

A group may have raped the girls, according to reports. The victims were allegedly coerced by the offenders to consume alcohol before to Tuesday’s atrocity. The fact that the accused captured the horrible incident on camera is even more disturbing.

The accused duo’s father and uncle, the contractor, threatened the victims’ family with terrible repercussions when they denounced the event. If the girls spoke out about the event, he threatened to assault them both and their families and let the tape go public.

The victims later hanged themselves with a scarf from a tree to end their lives. Fifty meters from their cabin, their corpses were discovered hanging from a berry tree.

The girls allegedly left their house on Wednesday under the pretense of going outside to relieve themselves and served dinner to their relatives before taking their own lives.

Based on a FIR filed against them, the police detained the contractor, his son, and his nephew in accordance with several POCSO Act provisions.

The parents of one adolescent girl had traveled to her hometown to attend a wedding, while the parents of the other daughter had gone to Ghatampur to purchase rations, according to the police.

According to DCP Ravindra Kumar, there was a lot of tension in the area, so the government sent in more officers. Evidence was gathered from the crime site by a forensic team.

However, Additional Police Commissioner Harish Chander went to the location and took notes on the workers’ remarks.

Because of the contractor’s influence in the community, many have complained to the police about his use of coercive measures to compel labor. Just one month has passed since his son and nephew visited the kiln, and now they are tormenting both of the females.
