Two months after his daughter purportedly committed suicide due to molestation in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, and one of the accused was let out of prison, state home minister Narottam Mishra on Saturday ordered an investigation into Aman’s death. According to the in charge of the Vidisha Kotwali police station, Ashutosh Singh, the girl had died on May 25 after accusing six males of molestation. This led to the filing of a complaint at Nateran police station and the arrest of one of them, Sudeep Dhakad.

Her father committed himself on Thursday, and six others were charged with aiding in his suicide at the Vidisha Kotwali police station as a result, according to the official. When the girl reported the molestation, a complaint was filed under Indian Penal Code section 354 (assaults or use of criminal force to any lady with the intent to offend her modesty) and summonses were issued, according to Home Minister Mishra.

Later, when the girl took her own life, a case of aiding suicide was filed under IPC section 306, and Sudeep Dhakad was detained, according to Mishra. He said that when the accused was let out of prison, the girl’s father committed suicide.

“The event will be investigated by a deputy inspector general of police rank officer, who will then present a report in three days. According to this information, action would be taken, he said. The Nateran police station chief and head constable were withdrawn from field duty, and the minister told that two people had been detained in connection with the father’s death.
