Two young Naya Gaon men are being held for murder
Two young people from Naya Gaon have been taken into custody by the police for fatally stabbing Ashish Kumar on March 29 while thwarting an attempt to steal his phone. The suspects, Karan Singh, a resident of Naya Gaon, and Akash, a native of Shamli, have been identified. Both suspects, according to the police, are between the ages of 18 and 19.
The deceased and his buddy Kartik were out on a stroll on March 29 at around 10.30 p.m. when the suspects approached them and attempted to take the victim’s phone. When Kartik ran away and Ashish refused to comply, one of them grabbed him and the other is said to have stabbed him twice in the chest.
After appearing in court today, the two were placed under two days of police remand.
“The two have been booked in cases of rioting at the Naya Gaon police station,” said DSP (City-1) Mohit Aggarwal. Based on the testimony provided by the deceased’s mother, Hemlata, a murder complaint has been filed against the accused at the Naya Gaon police station.
