Unopposed, 10 members of the BJP were elected to the Arunachal Assembly

In Arunachal Pradesh, the election officials declared 10 party candidates elected to the state Assembly without opposition on Saturday, giving the BJP a major boost.

Among them are CM Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh and CM-designate Chowna Mein. Following the conclusion of the nomination and withdrawal period, the BJP’s candidates for the Arunachal Assembly elections were proclaimed elected without opposition.

According to state Chief Electoral Officer Pawan Kumar Sain, Khandu was the only contender to submit nomination papers from Tawang’s Mukto Assembly seat. Chowna Mein, the Deputy Chief Minister, was proclaimed the winner from Chowkham after Congressman Bayamso Kri, his opponent, withdrew his candidacy on Saturday.

According to Sain, “single nominations were filed in six constituencies for the Assembly, and the opposition candidates withdrew their papers in four more.” Khandu, an MLA from Mukto on the India-China border, is running for office a fourth time. In a 2010 byelection, Khandu was initially chosen as the Congress candidate without facing any opposition from this area.

After his father, former chief minister Dorjee Khandu, perished in a helicopter accident, a byelection was called. In the subsequent Assembly elections in 2014 and 2019, the CM was elected to the seat.

CM Khandu thanked the state’s citizens for voting for ten BJP candidates without a single protest, stating that this was made possible by their faith in PM Modi’s plan for a brighter future. He said that Arunachal has written a fantastic chapter in electoral history with the victory of ten BJP candidates.
