UP sees a decrease in crimes against women

In the previous six years of his administration, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a number of measures to combat crime against women in Uttar Pradesh. As a consequence, not only have crimes against women decreased, but more women and the family members of murdered women are stepping forward to denounce crimes and seek justice.

The Chief Minister recently presided over a review meeting with police and government representatives and gave them instructions to take swift action against those responsible for crimes against women, including as sexual assault, violations of the POCSO Act, acts of love jihad, and conversion to another religion. He also gave instructions to authorities to punish police personnel who put off filing charges in certain situations.

It is important to note that the Chief Minister is working to guarantee that those responsible for crimes against women receive prompt and severe legal sanctions.

People now have more faith in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership as a consequence, and many women and even their family members are not afraid to disclose crimes against them.

Reports on the top five police who have taken rigorous action against crimes against women and the lowest five cops who have performed poorly were given at the review meeting. The months of January through August of this year are covered by this report.

According to information provided to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a total of 1,869 incidents of sexual assault were reported in the state between January and August, with 1,359 of those cases receiving chargesheets and 220 receiving final reports. 290 instances are being looked at in the meanwhile.

Strong measures taken by the Yogi administration against rapists and the provision of protection to the families of the victims have inspired people to come forward and file complaints against the offenders. Although there have been more instances of sexual assault in particular areas, the state as a whole has seen a decline in rape cases.

In the last eight months, more rape instances have been reported, especially in the districts of Fatehgarh, Sitapur, Khiri, Kaushambi, and Hamirpur. Action has been taken against 2,325 of the 2,578 accused parties in these instances, and attempts are being made to apprehend 253 sought people.

The top five districts where rape cases have been significantly dealt with are Badaun, Moradabad, Bijnor, Amroha, and Sambhal, whereas Prayagraj, Shahjahanpur, Balrampur, Kaushambi, and Fatehpur have performed poorly.

Similar to this, 5,957 instances have been recorded under the POCSO Act, with 3,73 cases submitting final reports and 4,860 cases filing complaints. In the meanwhile, 724 instances are still being investigated.

There has been a noticeable shift in the society as a consequence of the government’s harsh measures and awareness programs surrounding the POCSO Act. Previously, individuals were hesitant to report such occurrences, but now there has been an upsurge in the registration of cases under the POCSO Act in various regions of the state.

Ayodhya, Kaushambi, Ambedkar Nagar, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Commissionerate), and Jhansi are the names of these districts. A total of 8,699 accused people were engaged in these cases, of whom 8,009 have had measures taken against them and 690 remain sought.

Districts like Rampur, Jhansi, Hardoi, Khiri, and Sitapur have shown prompt measures and excellent performance in instances under the POCSO Act. Districts like Auraiya, Prayagraj (Commissionerate), Kanpur, Kannauj, and Bahraich, on the other hand, haven’t done well in this area.

In the last eight months, the state has recorded 6,445 incidents of outraging modesty, of which 4,531 have had charge sheets filed against them and 596 have had final reports submitted. In 1,318 incidents, investigations are still underway.

There has been an upsurge in the registration of cases involving outraging modesty in several parts of the state as a result of the Yogi government’s activities and raised awareness.

Deoria, Ambedkar Nagar, Mirzapur, Fatehgarh, and Gautam Buddh Nagar (Commissionerate) are some of these districts. In these instances, authorities have taken action against 9,388 of the 11,022 accused, while they are searching for 1,634 more accused people.

In contrast to the commissionerates in Prayagraj, Lucknow, Hamirpur, Maun, and Kanpur, swift action has been taken in these matters in the districts of Muzaffarnagar, Badaun, Aligarh, Hathras, and Jhansi.

Similar to this, 241 incidents involving love jihad and religious conversion were reported, with chargesheets being filed in 176 of them, final reports being presented in 16, and investigations continuing in 48 of them. Actions have been taken against 742 of the 790 accused people in these instances, and attempts are still being made to find the other 48.

As opposed to Gorakhpur, Commissionerate Prayagraj, Muzaffarnagar, Commissionerate Kanpur, and Hapur, districts like Etawah, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, and Sambhal did well in these circumstances.
