Upper Shimla apple orchards are damaged by hail and thunderstorms

Several locations around the state reported mild to moderate rainfall, lightning, hail, and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. The storm toppled trees in Una and Manali, allegedly causing damage to many automobiles. The thunderstorm in Shimla intensified throughout the late evening. In the meantime, the thunderstorm and hail have also caused considerable damage to the apple orchards in the Shimla region.

Since Thursday, there has been a lot of rain in a number of locations, including Ghagas (19 mm), Sundernagar (16.6 mm), Bharmaur (13 mm), Berthin (8.2 mm), and Bilaspur (8 mm). There was 4 mm of precipitation in Shimla.

Today is expected to have rain and a storm, according to the Meteorological Department’s orange advisory. The Meteorological Department reports that during the next three to four days, rain is possible in the mid- and upper slopes. For April 22 and 23, the department has issued a yellow notice for thunderstorms with lightning.

To prevent damage to fruit plantations, the government has recommended using hail nets or hail caps. Additionally, it has exhorted citizens to heed the warnings issued by the relevant ministries.

A tree was uprooted and ten cars were damaged.

Mandi: A tree that was uprooted and crashed on a group of cars at the Bhootnath temple in Manali, Kullu district, today caused damage to up to ten vehicles and injured one person.
