Heeramandi star Shekhar Suman criticizes young actors, saying, ‘They Want Stardom Overnight’

Shekhar Suman recently made fun of young performers in an interview. The actor said that performers nowadays want “fame very soon” when discussing the drawbacks of the modern period. He said that he did not understand the urge to be visible everywhere and questioned why celebrities appear shocked when they are papped.

“This period also has a lot of positive aspects. However, there are drawbacks as well. All of these young, up-and-coming performers want to become famous very quickly. Reels are being created of them, they want instant celebrity, to be seen everywhere, and to be spoken about by everyone. It’s dikh dikh to parshaan hai, and it’s log dekh dekh to parshaan. They may be seen at their residences, airports, and fitness centers. And considering that those individuals are summoned by them, they appear shocked everywhere as if they were unaware that people would be there, he told Bollywood Now.

Shekhar Suman is now preparing for the premiere of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He will be featured in the program as Zulfiqar Ahmed, an authoritative figure whose whole manner radiates strength and refinement. Adhyayan Suman, the son of Shekhar, will also feature in the movie as Zorawar Ali Khan, a haughty and conceited nawab whose acts are driven only by self-interest. Heeramandi includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal in addition to the father-son team.

Viewers will be taken back in time to a period when courtesans had regal authority via the historical drama series. The show explores the cultural realities of the Heera-Mandi region by telling the tales of courtesans and their patrons against the volatile background of the 1940s Indian Independence movement.

Adhyayan recently spoke candidly about his first-ever experiences working with his father and Bhansali in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha. Working alongside my father has always been a goal of mine. And in the show, I do have a scene with him. This situation is very intriguing. Beyond this, I cannot divulge anything. However, he admitted to us that acting alongside his father was quite exhilarating.
