Uttarakhand: A Chinook aircraft transports rescued laborers to AIIMS Rishikesh

A Chinook chopper has transported all 41 construction workers who were rescued from the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, to AIIMS Rishikesh. For a first health examination, the workers were housed in a medical center in Chinyalisaur, some 30 kilometers from the Silkyara tunnel site.

Following his meeting with all of the laborers at the Chinyalisaur medical facility, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that, per medical recommendation, the workers had been moved to AIIMS Rishikesh for further medical examination.

All employees’ health conditions are being observed. They’re all doing well. According to medical recommendations, every employee will get a health examination at AIIMS Rishikesh,” he said.

On Tuesday, the Chinook chopper was based in Chinyalisaur, ready to transport the laborers to Rishikesh. But yesterday night the weather prevented the helicopter from taking off.

Since November 12, the laborers have been confined inside the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. After a 17-day long, almost 2,000-man rescue mission that included tunnel specialists from India and overseas, the Army, the NDRF, the SDRF, and the local government, they were safely delivered on Tuesday evening.

Earlier in the day, CM Dhami spoke with each employee and asked about their health. Senior state government officials joined him on the visit.

The chief minister of Uttarakhand also spoke with the families of the laborers who were rescued from the Silkyara tunnel in Chinyalisaur.

The Uttarakhand government has said that each worker would get cash help totaling Rs 1 lakh, according to Chief Minister Dhami.
