While the current PM mainly criticizes others, previous PMs strived to create a new India: Pawar Sharad

On Monday, NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar said that whereas previous prime ministers strived to create a new India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi only criticizes others and stays silent when it comes to the things his administration has accomplished for the populace over the last 10 years.

Speaking at a Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate’s Amravati rally, Pawar said that it is impossible to doubt the impact that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had on the nation.

He said that a few BJP officials had made public remarks on amending the Constitution and urged the populace to prevent the emergence of authoritarianism in India.

In the Amravati Lok Sabha seat, a high-profile election contest is developing between the BJP’s Navneet Rana, the current MP who emerged victorious in the 2019 elections as an Independent, and the Congressman Balwant Wankhede.

According to Pawar, PM Modi was imitating Russian President Vladamir Putin and attempting to sow terror.

Pawar claimed that he has come to apologize to the people of Amravati for the “mistake” he made in endorsing Niveet Rana during the 2019 election.

“I had asked for the public’s support and made an appeal during the last elections (to elect Rana). The candidate I had petitioned for was chosen by the people. It’s time to correct that error,” he said.

As a candidate for the tripartite Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which is made up of the Congress, the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), and the Shiv Sena (UBT), Wankhede is a member of the Congress party.

“I saw the operations of almost every prime minister after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, including Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao, and Manmohan Singh. They wanted to create a new India, but the current prime minister only offers criticism, according to Pawar.

He said that while Prime Minister Modi constantly criticizes previous Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, no one in history can ignore his contributions.

“Instead of telling what the Central government did in the last ten years, he (Modi) keeps criticising others,” Pawar said. “We fear that a new Putin is in the making in India” , he said.

He praised Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) for “shouldering the responsibility to protect the national interest” by continuing to work closely with the Congress and the NCP (SP).
