On New Year’s Eve, Delhi woke up to moderate to deep layers of fog. The foggy conditions caused many trains traveling through, to, and from the national capital to be delayed.

A cold-day notice for Delhi was previously issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for the next weekend. “Cold-day conditions are very likely in some to many parts of Delhi on December 30 and 31,” the meteorological agency said.

Additionally, beginning in isolated areas of Delhi in the second week of January, there is a significant probability of a “cold wave,” according to the IMD.

New Year’s Eve in Delhi-NCR was met with thick fog. The national capital is expected to be covered in a layer of moderate to thick fog on Sunday as well, according to an IMD prediction from Saturday.

Due to the cold wave, numerous trains’ operations were disrupted. “Trains are stopping at the outer of every big station,” passengers at the Anand Vihar Railway Station stated, expressing anxiety about the situation. This is the main issue. This has to be resolved.
Over 20 trains were delayed with Sachkhand because of fog. said that they were more than 21 hours late. Bhopal Shatabdi is delayed by at least 10 hours shortly after this. In regions where fog is rather dense, locomotive drivers adhere to the advice for reduced speed.

There are other late trains as well, such as the Malwa Express, Poorva, GT, Gorakhdham, Mahabodhi, and Shram Shakti.

A “cold-day” notice had already been issued by the IMD for December 30 and 31.

According to the IMD, visibility on Saturday was 200 meters at Safdarjung, Delhi’s primary meteorological station, and 500 meters at the Ridge.

For the fourth day in a row, fog affected rail services yesterday, causing 30 trains headed for Delhi to be delayed.

The IMD reported that Saturday’s lowest temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius was five degrees above the season’s normal, while the highest temperature of 20.3 degrees Celsius was recorded.

The IMD prediction states that there will likely be some cloud cover in the sky and that the maximum and lowest temperatures will hover around 19 and 11 degrees Celsius.

According to IMD, there was no visibility reported on Sunday morning in Jorhat, Pathankot, Jammu, Agra, and Bhatinda. There was 25 meters of visibility in Ambala, and 200 meters in Bikaner, Patiala, Chandigarh, Gwalior, Jhansi, Amritsar, and Hisar.

In the meanwhile, Saturday’s air quality index (AQI) dropped to 400, which is almost in the “severe” range. Forecasts also said that if individuals let off firecrackers on New Year’s Eve, the air quality index (AQI) will probably become worse.

In addition, Sunday is predicted to bring light, sporadic rain or snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarbad.
