A Thane man cut and cooked his live-in partner’s body parts before calling the police

Officials claimed Thursday that the main suspect in the Thane murder case reportedly went to shockingly graphic lengths to cover up the death of his live-in spouse.

Manoj Sahani, 56, the accused, was apprehended late Wednesday night after being discovered residing in his rented home with many body parts belonging to Saraswati Vaidya, 32, whom he had just slain.

across 10 kilometres north of the boundaries of Mumbai, in the Geeta Nagar neighbourhood of the Mira Road town, Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajwale and his colleagues have discovered how he stashed the body fragments in plastic bags scattered across the 7th floor apartment of the Akashdeep Building.

The woman’s top half is said to have been partially disposed of by Sahani, a shopkeeper in north Mumbai, who is also said to have chopped off her bulky limbs and bones with a saw (cutter).

Police discovered the victim’s feet in the kitchen ready to be cooked. He is accused of cutting and chopping certain body parts in a mixer and boiling others in a pressure cooker to purge the room of their foul aroma.

In fact, when neighbours called the police and a squad raced there on Wednesday afternoon, it was the stink itself that blew the lid off the horrible murder.

The couple had been living together in the leased apartment for at least three years, according to DCP Bajwale, and the murder is believed to have occurred early this week (around Sunday and Monday).

They reportedly got into a heated argument about something, and Manoj murdered Saraswati at their house out of most likely fury. Later, in an effort to hide the evidence of his crime, he engaged in additional behaviours. But as soon as we stepped inside the apartment, it was obvious that a horrific murder had been perpetrated, and we managed to capture him’, said Bajbale.

Investigations are continuing, however police believe some of Sahani’s missing body parts may have been disposed of nearby in the mangroves, given to stray dogs as stated by several residents, or flushed down the toilet drain.

However, Sahani, who looks unrepentant, is being questioned by a police squad before being brought before a court later on Thursday, according to an official. The precise motivations for the horrifying murder have not yet been determined.

Residents of the Geeta Nagar community, who were shocked by the tragedy, talk about it in whispers, and others remember the pair as reclusive, not socialising with those around them, and keeping to themselves.

Three years before, the builder had rented the unsold apartment to Sahani-Vaidya via a real estate agency, where they had been residing ever since.

When such horrible acts are brought to light, according to a concerned lady property consultant on Mira Road, it instantly has a negative impact on real estate values in the complex, the nearby community, and the surrounding area.

“As the property and the neighbourhood develop a negative image, it becomes quite difficult for individuals to sell/dispose of the unit… There aren’t many buyers, or it must be forced into a distress sale at a significant loss,” the lady, who wished to remain anonymous, added.
