After LSG defeats CSK in the double header on April 23, the most sixes by a team in the IPL 2024

Tuesday, April 23, saw the duel of the sixes in the IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai end in a tie. However, in match 39, the host team, the Chennai Super Kings, were taken by surprise when the Lucknow Super Giants defeated them by six wickets.

One of the best six-hitters of the last few seasons, Shivam Dube, struck seven sixes, while century-scorer Ruturaj Gaikwad of CSK added three more to lead his club to a formidable 210/4 total.

Following CSK vs. LSG on April 23, Marcus Stoinis and LSG felt they were favorites when the Australian all-rounder hammered his first IPL century, slamming six sixes throughout his innings to complete the chase in the penultimate over. However, Stoinis and LSG had other plans.

Although both teams advanced, they were still some ways behind Sunrisers Hyderabad, who led the IPL 2024 in most sixes by a team. SRH is just one game away from reaching a century of maximums and has played one less game than other teams.

In only 39 matches this season, more than 650 sixes have been hit, suggesting that the record for the most sixes in an IPL season may be broken. The previous year’s 74-game season set a record with 1124 sixes.

Mumbai Indians (MI) fell short of their goal of being the team with the most sixes in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) after losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by nine wickets at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur earlier on Monday, April 22.

With SRH, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru all scheduled to play in the next few days, the fight is expected to become more intense. After CSK vs. LSG in IPL 2024 Match 39, here is a look at the most sixes recorded by a side in the competition:

Maximum Sixes in an IPL Team in 2024
Ninety-nine – Sunrisers Hyderabad through seven games
Mumbai Indians in eight games with 85 sixes
Royal Challengers Bengaluru in eight games: 82 sixes
Delhi Capitals in eight games: seventy-six
Kolkata Knight Riders had 69 sixes in 7 games.
Chennai Super Kings in 8 games with 65 sixes
64 sixes in eight games for the Rajasthan Royals
62 sixes in 8 games for the Lucknow Super Giants
Punjab Kings in 8 games with 61 sixes
Gujarat Titans in 8 games with 29 sixes
The list above details the team’s total number of sixes during the current Indian Premier League season. In terms of the greatest maximums ever hit by a team in IPL history, the current leader lags well behind the historical teams.

The Mumbai Indians presently hold that record, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru coming in second with nearly 1500 sixes. Over 1400 sixes have been struck by the Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders combined.

The Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the teams who have attained or are approaching 1000 points. The new teams, Gujarat Titans and LSG, have not yet reached the 300-point milestone.

Following the encounter on April 23, CSK came closer to 1500 in their brief IPL tenure, while LSG went closer to 300 maximums. The most sixes by active teams are shown here:
