BCCI President Roger Binny Is ‘Hopeful’ For The Bilateral Series Between Pakistan And India

According to BCCI President Roger Binny, a bilateral series between India and Pakistan should happen as soon as possible. The 1983 World Cup champion said that the BCCI cannot make the decision on its own and would leave it to the governments of both nations.

“BCCI cannot comment. Government must make a decision since it is a matter of government. We must wait and observe. And hopefully it will since Pakistan’s squad will be in India for the next ODI World Cup, according to Binny, who was cited by PTI following his historic trip to Pakistan.

Following their attendance at an Asia Cup match at the request of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Binny and BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla crossed the border from Pakistan into India at Attari-Wagah. Additionally, Binny and Shukla’s trip to Pakistan marks the first time in 17 years that two BCCI executives have visited Pakistan.

In terms of cricket, the Super 4 match between India and Pakistan is presently taking place in Sri Lanka as part of the Asia Cup 2023. The two bitter rivals will square off once again after the group game was a washout as both sides attempt to correct their shortcomings in time for the ODI World Cup in October.

India last visited Pakistan in 2006 as part of a bilateral series. India’s most recent trip to Pakistan was during the 2008 Asia Cup. Due to the tense ties between the two countries, Pakistan did visit India in 2012; nevertheless, the two have subsequently met in ICC and ACC tournaments.

Binny was asked whether cricket could bring the two countries back together in peace. “Cricket has always been a significant medium, even before,” he remarked. For instance, the mood that was fostered during the 2004 tour led to many friendships and trade delegations. It was a terrific environment since the business owners weren’t even accepting payment.

The BCCI President also commended Pakistan for their hospitality. “The meeting we had in Pakistan was excellent. We had excellent hospitality. They took excellent care of us. The primary plan was to sit and talk with them while watching cricket. Overall, the vacation was excellent, he continued. “Pakistan treated us very well, and they went out of their way to make us comfortable.”

Rajeev Shukla, vice president of the BCCI, praised PCB highly for their hospitality.

“The meeting went very well. We received excellent treatment from the Pakistan Cricket Board. Everything was perfect, including the security, and the preparations. It was a successful goodwill tour for cricket.

We had this visit in light of the fact that Mr. Jay Shah, the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), is also the secretary of the BCCI. We also visited Sri Lanka since BCCI and all the ACC members get along well.
